For our resident book worms, we hosted our inaugural Book Week in March.  Co-ordinated by Ms Colquhoun, it was an action packed week!

To open the week, we talked in Collect about key holy Books including the Bible, the Quaker book “Advices and Queries” and also the Koran.  Later that day, senior and junior classes worked together on different fun reading based activities.

Tuesday featured a visit from author Kieran Crowley who talked about his books which include “Colm & the Ghost’s Revenge” and the “Mighty Dynamo”.  Afterwards, we had a whole school “Read In” where everyone snuggled down to read a favourite book for 30 minutes.

The former Laureate na nÓg, Niamh Sharkey, visited on Wednesday.  Having read her stories “The Ravenous Beast” and “I’m a Happy Hugglewug” she hosted a Monster Doodle workshop with everyone in Infants, First and Second Class.   Later, 3rd to 6th debated the merits of iPads versus books.

World Book Day was on Thursday and our pupils disappeared to be replaced by a host of famous literary characters.

On Friday, the week’s events concluded with an amazing play performed by 3rd and 4th which told the story of all the books in the library.  This was followed by a whole school book quiz.

It was a great week and we hope that everyone has been inspired to keep reading!
