Newtown Innovation Labs (iLabs) is a not-for-profit, community learning space located on campus in Newtown Secondary School in Waterford. Inspired by Microsoft DreamSpace, it is a creative place for students to learn through hands-on, practical workshops in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics).
Funded by the Public Service Innovation Fund 2020, free online workshops will be available on 4th & 5th August, 11th & 12th August and 25th & 26th August. Separate workshops will be run for students and for teachers.
Students, aged 8 – 14 years, will learn how to create motorised Scribblebots (Workshop 1) and use LED/Circuitry (Workshop 2). Teachers will be shown how to deliver these workshops online or in the classroom.
