Newtown Junior School
Currently our flags include the Active School Flag (ASF) and Green-Schools . Our aim is to continuously improve these programmes and include ongoing commitment by our staff, students and the parent/guardians alike.
The Active School Flag (ASF) has been awarded to our school due to our ongoing commitment to a physically educated and physically active school community.
We have a comprehensive plan of activities throughout the year which encourage an increased active life regardless of ability and supports full participation which is both fun and educational.
The Green-School flag is something we are very proud of as it strives to promote long-term, whole-school action for the environment.
As it’s a student-led programme with involvement from the wider community we have been fortunate to achieve significant steps over the years considering our relatively small size to support a sustainable environment.

We were so pleased here in NJS to receive our second active flag last term. We are all systems go for another busy sporting year. This term classes from Junior Infants to second have started tennis with Coach Emma on our astro turf. 1st– 4th are busy making a splash...
